$62 million: The most expensive property sale in 2022

A $62.75 million mansion in Vaucluse, Sydney has taken the crown as Australia’s most expensive home for 2022.

CoreLogic’s 2022 Best of the Best report revealed the most expensive houses sold this year, with Sydney properties dominating the list.

Topping the sales was the trophy home at 38A Wentworth Road in Vaucluse, which sold for $62.75 million in February after three years on the market.

The mansion, known as ‘Ganeden’ includes seven bedrooms, three kitchens, two internal lifts, 10 bathrooms and a 20-car garage. Other features include a home cinema, gym and two swimming pools.

While the hillside property is not on the waterfront, it does offer views of Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

The property is next door to James and Erica Packer’s former ‘La Mer’ home, which sold for about $70 million in 2015.

It was listed by lawyer John Landerer - the founder of commercial law firm Landerer & Company - and wife Michelle.

The 10 most expensive property sales in 2022

The top three property sales were all located in Sydney, with a $60 million home in Darling Point coming in second place, followed by a $45 million property in Point Piper.

Here are the 10 most expensive property sales in 2022, according to CoreLogic:

  6. 31 Stanley Avenue, Mosman NSW - $33 million, sold in March

  7. 11 Collins Avenue, Rose Bay NSW - $29 million, sold in February

  8. 24 Arakoon Crescent, Sunshine Beach QLD - $28.5 million, sold in April

  9. 167 Pacific Road, Palm Beach NSW - $27.5 million, sold in June

  10. 12 Noosa Parade, Noosa Heads QLD - $27 million, sold in July
