$79 million Aussie private island for sale: 'Best-kept secret’
Described as “the ultimate ticket to tranquillity and prosperity”, this private island off the coast of Victoria is sure to wow.
The massive 31-hectare Fraser Island is at the eastern end of the Gippsland Lakes, and is a pristinely preserved “ecological paradise”.
“Bordered by the mainland and unspoiled Ninety Miles Beach, it's revered as one of Victoria's best-kept secrets,” RE/MAX agent Daniel Schoeman says in the listing.

The sales guide suggests the property could sell for a massive $79 million.
So, what do you get for nearly $80 million?
If you get sick of looking at the private white sand beaches, lush greenery and native wildlife, you could treat yourself to a game of golf on the nine-hole course.
If tennis is more your game, you’re covered there as well, with two flood-lit courts.
A games room and pool also feature, along with a gazebo with built-in sound system, plus a BBQ area with a gas hotplate and small wood-fired pizza oven.
If you want to look at your beautiful new private island from a distance, you could head on down to the private jetty that can moor a large 50-foot boat or four smaller 18-foot vessels.
“There's even a nostalgic commercial ferry and a speedboat to keep you connected to the mainland,” the listing says.
The island, of course, also comes with a house that sleeps 11 and has six bathrooms - though, for $80 million, it might need a bit of updating.
The view more than makes up for the boarding-school vibes though.
“This classic century-old homestead embraces the beauty of a bygone era,” the listing says.
“Enriched with traditional charm, it boasts 11 bedrooms (two with private ensuites), male and female bathrooms, a grand dining hall to accommodate over 30 guests, wine cellar, refrigeration room, laundry and a kitchen fit to create a feast.”
