The ASX is expected to open flat today, after concerns over the US-China trade war triggered sharp falls on Wall Street.

Investors have been rattled by Donald Trump's recent decision to slap a 10 per cent tariff on $300 billion worth of goods, effectively taxing all Chinese exports to the United States.

The Aussie dollar is buying 67.96 US cents from 68.45 US cents on Friday.

Queensland apprentices will have their training costs paid by the state government, under a $32 million job creation program.

The move is expected to progress around 60,000 young people into a trade in the next four years in occupations suffering skill shortages.
