Woolworths freebie hiding in shopper’s receipts

Woolworths customers can grab a free hot beverage when they spend $30 or more in one shop.

There’s a little-known detail on your grocery receipt that could score you a freebie the next time you shop at Woolworths.

The supermarket giant is giving shoppers a free hot beverage of their choice when they spend $30 or more at a participating Woolworths Metro store.

It’s not a bad deal considering the average cost of a small coffee in Australia is now around $4.50 - and even more if you add speciality milk or go a size up.

Woolworths has been offering the deal for customers permanently since June 2023 and says thousands of customers are getting their free coffee fix at their Metro stores each week.

“Over 11,000 Everyday Rewards Members every week who spend $30 in a participating Woolworths Metro store are already receiving a free hot beverage,” a Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.

“Everyday Rewards members can now see their Metro coffee vouchers via the app to keep track of their coffee rewards.”

Coffee snobs might also be interested to know that Woolworths Metro coffee is sourced from Two Seeds, which the supermarket says is 100 per cent sustainably sourced, and each cup is ground and brewed fresh to order.

How do I get free coffee at Woolworths?

Customers can receive a free hot beverage every time they spend $30 in one shop at participating Woolworths Metro stores.

To redeem, you have to scan your Everyday Rewards card at participating Metro stores. You will be notified in your paper or digital receipt, or via the Rewards app, that you’re eligible for the offer.

You have 60 days to redeem the offer and can grab any hot beverage of any size, including tea, coffee or hot chocolate, but things like alternative milk or syrup will cost extra. You can grab the deal each time you spend $30 in one shop.
