Time’s annual 25 Most Influential People on the Internet list is out - and unless you’re across all nooks of the net, there are probably a few names you won’t recognise.

But, there are certainly some you will.

President Donald Trump makes the list, as does Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex. So do the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle).

Jameela Jamil, Netflix’s The Good Place actress and outspoken Instagram personality makes the list, which is hardly surprising given her stance for body positivity and against diet culture.

Billboard Hot 100 topper, Lil Nas X, also makes the list after his song “Old Town Road” - made to a $30 beat - went viral.

James Charles also features on the list after his online stoush with fellow beauty vlogger, Tati Westbrook.

The Hong Kong Protestors and the climate change School Strikers also made the list.

But who really takes the cake?

For me, it’s the egg.

The World Record Egg.

More accurately, the man behind the egg – Chris Godfrey – made the list after a picture he posted of an egg on Instagram got more likes than Kylie Jenner’s photo of her baby, Stormi. It got 53 million likes to be exact, as compared to Jenner’s mere 18 million.

Cardi B, Ariana Grande, K-Pop band BTS and Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith make the list too.

But other names might not be so familiar to the masses, like JoJo Siwa - the “relentlessly enthusiastic 16-year-old from Nebraska who sings, dances and vlogs on Youtube” – or Emma Chamberlain, another teen vlogger.

American Journalist Yashar Ali also features, as does controversial right-winger Ben Shapiro and Rahaf Mohammed, the teenage runaway who escaped her abusive family.

How does Time choose?

Time evaluates its contenders by looking at their global impact on social media and their overall ability to drive news.
