While one might be tempted to say George Clooney or Marvel stars Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth are the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, Forbes annual celebrity rich-list would say differently.

You can cross Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt off your list too: Dwayne Johnson is the highest-paid actor for the second year in a row, Forbes World’s Highest-Paid Celebrities list reveals.

Thanks to some seriously hefty pay packets from films Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, the artist formerly known as The Rock, took home a whopping US$89.4 million.

Johnson also has a line of clothing, shoes and headphones at Under Armor.

Scarlett Johansson is the highest paid actress for the second year in a row, earning US$56 million from her role as Black Widow in the stratospherically profitable Avengers series.

Celine Dion is the 100th celebrity on the list, bringing in US$37.5 million.

Taylor Swift topples surprising celeb to take home highest-paid title

Dwayne Johnson might be the highest-paid actor, but Taylor Swift is the world’s highest-paid celebrity, taking home an incredible US$185 million (AU$265.7 million) in the last year.

She sits ahead of Kylie Jenner and her US$170 million pay packet on Forbes Highest-Paid Celebrities list. Kylie Jenner was named Forbes’ youngest-ever self-made billionaire earlier this year, although her annual income doesn’t quite measure up to Swift’s.

Jenner’s brother-in-law Kanye West comes next, sitting on a solid US$150 million, before Lionel Messi (US$127 million), Ed Sheeran ($110 million) and Cristiano Ronaldo (US$109 million).

While Swift’s riches are unsurprising, coming off her 2018 Reputation tour - the highest-grossing tour in US history, she toppled a surprising celebrity to gain the top spot.

But there’s a trend here: Swift also won the top spot in 2016 after coming off her incredibly successful 1989 tour.

Canelo Alvarez is the highest-paid boxer on the list this year, earning US$94 million. He earned US$1 million more than by Dr Phil McGraw, who made US$95 million.

Roger Federer was the highest-paid tennis star, bringing home US$93.4 million, while J.K. Rowling continues to bathe in riches, taking home US$92 million thanks to lucrative theme parks and theatrical productions.

Play, ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, made US$2.3 million in ticket sales in just one week, making it the highest of any nonmusical in the history of broadway.

In Forbes Highest-Paid Celebrities list for 2018, Floyd Mayweather took home the top title (US$285 million), followed by George Clooney (US$239 million).
