Ridiculous things Aussies are spending money on: ‘$500 for a pink pool’
Aussies are hopping on board the Barbie trend in a major way.
Do you look like Margot Robbie, are good at gymnastics and like kids? Perhaps you’re really good at dying pools ‘Barbie Pink’?
If you hold these particular skill sets, you could make some serious cash. Aussies have taken to Airtaskter to post some very Barbie-centric job offers.

“People often turn to Airtasker for help to celebrate life events because they can quickly find people with the right skill set and get what they need done, in a short space of time,” Airtasker founder and CEO Tim Fung said.
“With Barbie fever hitting Australia, we are certainly seeing Airtasker help add some fun and magic to people’s lives as they celebrate the movie’s release.”
Here are just some of the Barbie-fever jobs on offer.
$500 to dye a pool
Todd from Sydney’s affluent suburb of Bondi is offering $500 for someone to dye his pool pink for a birthday party.
“I'm having a Barbie birthday party next month! I need a pool wiz to turn my pool pink for me so it matches the pink decor around the house and yard now. I'm not sure whether the water should be dyed pink, or if i should get some pink lights scattered throughout the water, so i need a pool expert to tell me what's possible so i can have the pink pool party of my dreams!!” the posting says.
While $500 sounds like a lot, the money also includes the set-up and clean-up costs. How you remove pink dye from a pool, we’re not quite sure.
$500 for a Margot Robbie lookalike
If you look like Margot Robbie (and haven’t been immediately snatched up by a modelling agency or casting director) and love kids, this could be the easiest $500 you’ll ever make.
Paige, who lives in the Sydney suburb of Randwick, is looking for someone to dress up as Gymnastics Barbie for her child's birthday party.
“My daughter loves gymnastics and, since the movie is about to come out, she has recently become obsessed with Barbie! She thinks Margot Robbie is the real and only Barbie, so I want a lookalike to come as a ‘Gymnastics Barbie’,” the posting says.
$350 for a boozy cake
If baking is your thing, then Ramson in Sydney is looking for you to create a boozy Barbie cake for a hen’s celebration.
“Organising my friend’s hen’s party and want to get a Barbie-themed cake with alcohol on it – needs to be delivered to a wharf in the city next Saturday 3pm as we’re having the event on a boat,” the posting says.
