Remote Aussie town offering $450k salary and incredible perks to lure one worker to its shores

The worker would not only be given that eye-watering salary, but also free rent and a free car.

A small town 500 kilometres south of Perth is offering an eye-watering salary to lure a doctor to its idyllic shores. Bremer Bay is in desperate need of a general practitioner (GP) and they'll not only have the chance to earn up to $450,000 a year, but also enjoy free rent and a free car.

Bremer Bay is next to the Fitzgerald River National Park and nearly 40 minutes away from the closest town. Currently, they only have one temporary doctor; the next permanent GP is in Albany, almost 200 kilometres away, and the town is looking for the "Swiss army knife of doctors" to step up.

It could be the perfect spot to live if you want to be by the ocean and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Plus the job perks are pretty impressive.

Livingston Medical said the role is based in a "scenic location" that would allow you to "experience the true essence of rural Australia".

The GP role has two different pay options. First, you could take a "generous" salary between $300,000 to $450,000. Or, you could choose to take the earnings from 70 per cent of billings.

For comparison, the average GP in Australia gets paid a little more than $233,000, according to Indeed.

If getting close to double the average GP salary wasn't enough to entice you then Livingston Medical has decided to throw in a five-bedroom house that you won't have pay a cent for, as well as a free four-wheel-drive car.

“Work within a supportive environment alongside experienced professionals including practice managers, receptionists, nurses, and allied health staff," the role states.

“Enjoy autonomy in your practice while receiving ample support and resources to excel in your role.”

  • Salary of up to $450,000 or earn 70 per cent of billings

Livingston Medical requires applicants to have current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and have relevant experience in being a rural GP.

Livingston Medical chief executive Rachel Livingston told Perth Now the role comes with a lot of job satisfaction.

"You become heavily ingrained in the community and you end up caring passionately about the people, who sort of become your family," she said.
