RECORD LOW: $683 Sydney to Los Angeles DIRECT return flights

Return flights on a full-service airline from Sydney to Los Angeles have been spotted for $683.

Virgin Australia has $713 tickets available on certain date combinations between May to September, according to Scott’s Cheap Flights.

“These are the cheapest nonstop fares we’ve seen to LA, ever,” Scott’s Cheap Flights wrote in a bulletin to its subscribers.

“Dates include summer (their summer, our winter).”

But Finder later reported seeing $683 tickets with a combination of Virgin and partner Delta.

While Australians can usually save some money flying to the US via a stopover in Auckland, Suva or Honolulu, direct flights cost $1,300 return in normal circumstances.

Yahoo Finance confirmed the existence of the $713 tickets, but they are fast disappearing as only a limited number are available for each flight.

All the seats at the $713 price were available through third party online agent BYOjet, Yahoo Finance observed, rather than directly from the airline.

Virgin Australia is a full-service airline so meals and checked luggage are all included, as is lounge access if you’re on certain levels in its frequent flyer program.
