Got an old Care Bear at home? It could be worth more than $10,000
Have you got an old Care Bear hanging around somewhere, gathering dust?
The cuddly, colourful teddy bears were well-loved in the 1980s – but now, they’re valuable for entirely different reasons that are decidedly not sentimental.
Vintage Care Bears are now prized items for serious toy collectors, and they can fetch hundreds – or even possibly thousands – of dollars.
As reported by 7 News, some bears sell for less than $10 but if you’ve got the right one, some can fetch nearly $800. On rare occasions, some special Care Bears or Care Bear collections could go for upwards of a whopping $10,000.

The most expensive Care Bears sold
Websites like Doopydoo’s and Care Bear Collectors have been set up for serious toy traders.
According to Care Bear Collectors, this ‘VTG Care Bears Cousins Pink Monkey One Of A Kind 1983 PROTOYPE Plush Animal’ sold for US $10,000, or AU $14,357 on 23 October last year – and that was only one single bear.
That one bear sold for more than this entire collection of Bears, which went for US $7,495 or about AU $10,760.
On Doopydoos, the most expensive Care Bear is a ‘Rare Vintage 12” Nobleheart Horse Care Bear’s Cousin’, which was sold for $727.
A ‘Vintage 12” Proudheart Cat Care Bear Cousin went for $291.50.
So, if you can bear to part from your old furry friend, dig out your old Care Bear, pop it online and make yourself a quick few hundred, or even thousand, bucks.
