“Cases are decent with some minor cracking and yellowing from age. Pre-owned with signs of use buy,” the seller described. “Overall a great set.”

Another vendor is selling The Little Mermaid on VHS with a framed poster for $14,549.38.

“Extremely rare Little Mermaid VHS 1990, banned art work, showing a ‘Little mermans’’ you know what,” the description reads.

Early artwork from The Little Mermaid drew controversy over what some viewers saw as phallic symbols.

Both of these sets were Black Diamond tapes which were sold between 1984 and 1993.

Both items are yet to sell.

The VHS interest comes as Disney undergoes a major nostalgia project, releasing live-action versions of previously animated favourites, including Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, the Jungle Book and most recently Aladdin. A live action version of The Lion King will also hit theatres this year.
