Here's Why H&T Group (LON:HAT) Has Caught The Eye Of Investors

It's common for many investors, especially those who are inexperienced, to buy shares in companies with a good story even if these companies are loss-making. Sometimes these stories can cloud the minds of investors, leading them to invest with their emotions rather than on the merit of good company fundamentals. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.

In contrast to all that, many investors prefer to focus on companies like H&T Group (LON:HAT), which has not only revenues, but also profits. Even if this company is fairly valued by the market, investors would agree that generating consistent profits will continue to provide H&T Group with the means to add long-term value to shareholders.

How Fast Is H&T Group Growing?

If you believe that markets are even vaguely efficient, then over the long term you'd expect a company's share price to follow its earnings per share (EPS) outcomes. That makes EPS growth an attractive quality for any company. Over the last three years, H&T Group has grown EPS by 15% per year. That's a good rate of growth, if it can be sustained.

Top-line growth is a great indicator that growth is sustainable, and combined with a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin, it's a great way for a company to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. EBIT margins for H&T Group remained fairly unchanged over the last year, however the company should be pleased to report its revenue growth for the period of 27% to UK£221m. That's a real positive.

Are H&T Group Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

It's said that there's no smoke without fire. For investors, insider buying is often the smoke that indicates which stocks could set the market alight. This view is based on the possibility that stock purchases signal bullishness on behalf of the buyer. However, insiders are sometimes wrong, and we don't know the exact thinking behind their acquisitions.

We note that H&T Group insiders spent UK£97k on stock, over the last year; in contrast, we didn't see any selling. That's nice to see, because it suggests insiders are optimistic. Zooming in, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Independent Non-Executive Director Simon Walker for UK£67k worth of shares, at about UK£4.44 per share.

Does H&T Group Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?

As previously touched on, H&T Group is a growing business, which is encouraging. It's not easy for business to grow EPS, but H&T Group has shown the strengths to do just that. The cherry on top is the insider share purchases, which provide an extra impetus to keep and eye on this stock, at the very least. We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 1 warning sign for H&T Group that you need to be mindful of.

The good news is that H&T Group is not the only growth stock with insider buying. Here's a list of growth-focused companies in GB with insider buying in the last three months!
