Best Woolworths, Coles 50% off deals this week

Woolworths and Coles each week slash prices by 50 per cent for a bunch of grocery items.

The supermarkets use these bargains as "loss leaders" – items that don't make any money themselves but will bring people in, who will likely buy other more profitable products.

The half-price specials also distinguish Coles and Woolworths from challenger Aldi. The fast-rising budget supermarket also has weekly specials, but they're not discounted anywhere near 50 per cent.
