Australia’s best universities revealed
A number of Australian educational institutions have been named among the best in the world, with five universities making it into the top 50.
Featuring 1,300 universities from around the world, this year's rankings were the largest ever, according to QS Top Universities.

Each institution was assessed according to six key metrics:
Academic reputation
Employer reputation
Faculty/student ratio
Citations per faculty
International faculty ratio
International student ratio
Academic reputation accounted for 40 per cent of the overall score.
The figures are based on the QS Academic Survey, which collated the expert opinions of more than 130,000 individuals in the higher-education space regarding teaching and research quality at the world’s universities.
While Australia doesn't make it into the top 10 in the world, 38 Aussie universities are featured on the entire list.
The top 10 universities in Australia are:
Australian National University
University of Melbourne
University of Sydney
University of New South Wales
University of Queensland
Monash University
University of Western Australia
University of Adelaide
University of Technology Sydney
University of Wollongong
ANU was ranked equal 27th on a global scale. University of Melbourne was number 37, followed by University of Sydney at 38.
UNSW was number 43 and the University of Queensland was ranked number 47 in the world.
