Apple vs Samsung: which is best?

The global tech market is dominated by tech giants Apple and Samsung, which continue to be the two most renowned mobile gadget and electronic manufacturers in the world.

Apple and Samsung have been fierce competitors at all levels since Samsung released its first smartphone in 2010 and turned the tech market into a two-horse race.

Their release cycles almost complement each other, for which the release dates of new products have become some of the most awaited days in tech history.

The great smartphone war between Apple and Samsung has even moved into the courts – just last week US appeals court handed Samsung a win over Apple in a long-running patent fight, overriding a jury verdict ordering it to pay $119.6 million to the iPhone maker.

With the release of the new iPhone7 and Samsung Galaxy 6S, comparing the two manufacturers has becoming even more interesting.

So which manufacturer is best? Here are some of the pros and cons.

Apple pros

Reputable: As the world market leader in phone production, iPhones are clearly the most awaited in the market, with customers willing to camp out in long queues just to get the chance to own the new gadget.

IOS: Apple tech offers iTunes and Apple Store for applications and downloading. The high quality app store is a significant pro.

Design: Apple phones such as iPhone are among the most aesthetically beautiful designs in the market while also being very durable and featuring shock absorbing, and soon waterproofing, capabilities.

Enhanced security: The enhanced security with Touch ID is far superior than on android.

Performance: All apple hardware is equipped with 64-bit processors.

Backup: Apple offers easier device handling restore and backup with iTunes – a great advantage when something goes wrong.

Data transfer: Apple is very good at making all their products identifiable to one another, which makes it easier to send music, photos and videos among other types of media to one another. 

Samsung pros

Reputable manufacturer: Samsung is a mobile phone manufacturer powerhouse and has massive followers. Their designs are some of the best and most efficient in the market.

Product range: Samsung is among oldest manufacturer of phones and they serve a global market producing a wide variety of gadgets ranging from large touchscreen smartphones to old technologies.

Android OS: Samsung was the first to embrace android OS which has a global reputation for offering millions of applications via Google Play. It also allows integration of advanced computing technologies and software in mobile phones.

Compact design: Samsung phones are durable and can last for many years if properly maintained. Even Samsung phones over half a decade old and still perform well.

Latest technology: Samsung offers the latest state-of-the-art features that can achieve all that any mobile phone can currently accomplish. Some include maps and GPS tracking, mobile wallets, high-definition cameras, ergonomic display and fast web browsing, expanded memory and multiple-user interface.

Pricing: Samsung has much more competitive pricing than Apple, which also extends to the cost and ease of repair.

Battery life: Samsung models have quick-charging methods that give your phone less downtime and more usefulness.

Apple cons

IOS limitations: IOS restricts downloads to Apple Store and have various limitations when it comes to 3rd party applications which is a trend.

Pricing: Apple are renowned for continually being the most expensive in the market, making it unaffordable to many. This also applies to accessories and repairs.

Consumes more data: Downloads are rendered in high quality, consuming more data.

Low battery life: With less power saving options and higher data output, unsurprisingly, Apple products have a poorer battery life.

Samsung cons

Pricing: The most recent technology has premium pricing to its slightly older models.

Low battery life: Smartphones have many background applications making them heavy batter users.
