NSW parents have been given a $500 boost to help cover the cost of before and after school care as the summer holidays approach.
The NSW government has extended the time to claim $500 Before and After School Care (BASC) vouchers. Parents now have until January 31, 2023 to claim and redeem the vouchers, and until June 30, 2023 to use any remaining credit.
Premier Dominic Perrottet encouraged Aussie parents to redeem their vouchers in the coming weeks.

“We know the Before and After School Care vouchers help to ease hip-pocket pressure and give parents and carers the flexibility they need around work commitments,” Perrottet said.
“I encourage parents who haven't already to download and redeem a BASC voucher before the summer holidays are over to help cover the cost of vacation care.”
More than 263,000 vouchers have already been claimed.
Who can get the $500 voucher?
Vouchers are open to families with children aged four to 13 who attend a primary school in NSW. This includes children who are starting kindergarten in 2023.
“Every family with a child going into kindergarten in 2023 can now download their voucher until 31 January, 2023 if they have not yet done so,” Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell said.
How do I apply?
You need to apply for and redeem the voucher before January 31, 2023 with a participating provider. If you have any voucher credits with a provider, you must use it by June 30, 2023.
You can’t apply for another voucher if you already did so from February to September this year for the same child.
