$250 energy rebate expected for millions
Victorian households could soon receive another $250 Power Saving Bonus.
Victorians could be getting some more much-needed relief from rising energy bills, with the premier strongly hinting another $250 Power Saving Bonus is on the way.
Premier Daniel Andrews all but confirmed another installment of the popular energy rebate would be coming for Victorian households. The most recent Power Saving Bonus round started on March 24 and ended on August 31.

“Having done four rounds of this [Power Saving Bonus], I think that it will be self-evident that we of course may well do a fifth,” Andrews said.
“I think it’s logical to assume that if and when we can, then of course we stand ready to do a fifth. I don’t have any announcements to make about that today.”
It comes as Aussies are hit with rising energy bills, with new data from St Vincent de Paul finding electricity bills and gas have risen to a record $4,400 a year for the average family.
How to get the $250 payment
Victorians will have to wait for the new Power Saving Bonus round to be officially announced by the state government. However, it’s likely any fifth round will work in the same way as previous installments. There have been four previous rounds delivered between July 2018 and August 2023.
The $250 Power Saving Bonus has previously been available to all eligible Victorian households who visit the Victorian Energy Compare website. It was also open to households who received payments under previous rounds.
What other energy relief is available?
Eligible households may be able to access energy relief now through the Victorian annual electricity concession. This takes 17.5 per cent off electricity usage and service costs.
It’s available for eligible electricity account holders with a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card and Veteran Gold Card.
Eligible households can also receive $250 in bill relief from July 1, 2023, through the federal Energy Bill Relief Fund.
The Victorian Energy Assistance Program can help households struggling with power bills to apply for eligible grants and concessions.
