Millions of Aussies eligible for $250 payment
Victorian households will be eligible for another $250 Power Saving Bonus.
Millions of Victorians will be eligible for a $250 cash payment on Friday as the government’s Power Saving Bonus scheme returns for another round.
From March 24, Victorian households can apply for the new $250 payment by visiting the Victorian Energy Compare website. It will be open to all eligible households, including those who received payments under previous rounds.
If you haven’t applied for any previous payments, you can do so until midnight on Thursday and then apply for the new payment on Friday. That means you can double your payment and get $500 in total.

“We know Victorians are doing it tough with the rising cost of energy – that’s why we’ll have a new round of the $250 Power Saving Bonus, putting money in families’ pockets and making sure they’re on the best deal,” Premier Dan Andrews said when announcing the new round.
More than 1.7 million Victorian households have claimed the payment since the current round launched on July 1, 2022.
How can I get the $250 payment?
You can apply for the $250 Power Saving Bonus payment by visiting the Victorian Energy Compare website from Friday March 24, 2023.
To receive the payment, you’ll need to have a recent residential electricity bill with you and be the account holder for that bill. There is only one payment available per household.
As part of the application process, the government will show you information about the best-priced electricity offers available in your area. You are not required to switch offers or retailers.
The whole process will take five to 10 minutes. If your application is successful, you will receive the $250 payment to your nominated bank account within three to 15 days.
If you haven’t applied for the current $250 payment, you can do so until midnight on Thursday and then apply for the new round on Friday.
