Valentine meteor lights up Melbourne sky

Dashcam footage shared by Leesa Vaughan shows a bright flare as the meteor burned up upon entering the atmosphere on Sunday. Vaughan was part of a vehicle convoy travelling on the Monash Freeway when she saw the phenomenon.

"It appeared almost due south of us. The most amazing colors in person, very hard to see on video," she told Reuters, adding that she just happened to be at the "right place at the right time".

Local media reported the meteor was spotted at around 10.40 p.m.
