MYLES UDLAND: All right. Welcome back to Yahoo Finance Live on this Monday morning. We continue to see vaccine rollout continue in the US. Around the world, the struggles remain. Yahoo Finance's Anjalee Khemlani joins us now to discuss a milestone, however, in the US's fight against COVID-19.

ANJALEE KHEMLANI: That's right, Myles. We know that over the weekend, the US hit 50% of the adult population getting at least their first dose of the vaccine. Meanwhile, we know those numbers continue to climb as people continue to make appointments. And this week marks a sort of open season, as the Biden administration has said for all US adults to be eligible for vaccines.

We know that that includes the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine, which are already out there and continue to be shipped out. We also know that it was supposed to include the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which has been on pause for a week now and is going to continue to be so until Friday. And that's an important date, because that's when the CDC panel, the advisory panel, is going to meet yet again to discuss the vaccine, as well as understand what the potential risks are and to whom, and will likely be advising.

We know that Anthony Fauci, Dr. Anthony Fauci, over the weekend, did say that he anticipates the lift on that pause on Friday. Health experts have been waiting for it and anticipate as much. This mimics what we saw over in Europe with the AstraZeneca vaccine, some limitations or warnings for certain subgroups of the population.

And meanwhile, we know that globally we're continuing to see a rise in cases. That is also here in the US in several states and certain pockets. And so this is going to be a really concerning time. So while we are seeing the good news on the vaccination front, continuing rise in cases is a concern for health experts right now.

Back to you guys.
