Your house could soon be built by a robot
Houses made by humans? Psh, that’s old-school.
A new joint venture has been struck between building product supplier Brickworks and Aussie brick-laying robot start-up Fast Brick Robotics (FBR) will bring robot-made walls and houses to the Australian market.
The new business, called Fastbrick Australia, is focused on delivering what they call ‘wall as a service’, where businesses pay to have a wall built by the bricklaying robot Hadrian X.
Hadrian X is FBR’s one-armed autonomous robot that can lay up to 1,000 bricks an hour, an output that would typically take two human bricklayers a day.

It’s proven the capability of building a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house in three days – and meet relevant building standards to boot.
According to a statement by FBR, the robot start-up will have exclusive rights to laying services using their robot technology while the bricks will be provided by Brickworks.
The joint venture will last for a minimum of three years.
So standby – the next time you need a house built, you could be calling on a robot, not a human.
