The January transfer window is open in Europe. We’ll keep you updated with the latest news and speculation from silly season’s winter cousin. Man United ups bid for Sporting’s Fernandes
In an effort to secure Bruno Fernandes’ services now, Manchester United has upped its offer to Sporting Lisbon to $88 million,
according to Sky Sports.
United would pay a little over $60 million now, with up to an additional $27 million in add-ons.
Barcelona’s offer is understood to be higher, but a significant portion of it would not be paid until the summer.

There’s been back-and-forth all month between United and Sporting Lisbon over Fernandes’ evaluation, and it finally seems the two sides are in agreement. The window shuts at 6 p.m. ET on Friday, and the deadline often compels clubs to hammer out difference with expediency.
Fernandes is a multi-faceted attacking midfielder who’s scored 64 goals for Sporting and is also an excellent passer. United is six points back of the top four in the Premier League table, and signing Fernandes would at least appear to be a strong statement following the
club’s deafening silence with regard to its current struggles.
