Woman divides TikTok users with controversial kitchen organization hack: ‘I’ve been doing this wrong my whole life’

·2-min read

A TikToker has users on the app deeply divided — all because of a silverware drawer.

Over the past year, TikTok has become a seemingly endless source of household hacks. Users have shared their tricks for keeping bread from going stale, fixing floor scratches and making their own lazy Susans.

Sometimes, however, those hacks can also stir up controversy. That includes TikToker’s tips for wrapping gifts, frying eggs and now, organizing a silverware drawer.

TikTok user Patricia Prado Oliveira originally shared the trick, in a clip that now has more than 3.8 million views.

In the video, the user shows how she sorts her silverware sideways, instead of stacking it in her silverware organizer.

One user, named Jessica (@_jessiemessy_), seemed particularly impressed. She shared a Duet video responding to Oliveira’s TikTok with a truly shocked reaction.

“Why wasn’t I shown this sooner,” she captioned the clip.

“I can’t believe this,” another added

Meanwhile, some said the “hack” wasn’t a hack at all.

“Ain’t nobody got time for that,” one user wrote.
