Where does the ‘I’m coming back for you’ TikTok sound come from?

Carly Rae Jepsen’s latest single, “The Loneliest Time,” is going viral on TikTok.

The song — from the album of the same — features the upbeat lyrics “I’m coming back for you baby.” But in typical TikTok fashion, people are using it ironically. Instead of celebrating the things they want to come back to, some are using it to describe the responsibilities they dread. The snippet currently has over 135,000 videos associated with it.

“Me to my shower after spending 3 hours in a boiling hot water session using every product and blasting my music having a concert,” @selfcarebeautyyy wrote, showing off her massive body care collection.

“Me leaving my bed because I have to go to school,” @lillyvzimmer said, looking at her bed longingly.

Watch this bland Brooklyn bedroom become a mid-century modern escape in just one day:

“When you have an essay due in 2 days but you know you’ll somehow get it done in time, so there’s no need to worry ab it now,” @baaschamanda’s video caption read.

“POV: When you find a knot while brushing your hair but you just don’t have the strength rn…” @b.e.n_rl said in a video.

“Me FaceTiming my cat every day from tour to make sure he doesn’t forget I exist,” @carlyraejepsen said, joining her own trend.

See this bedroom turn into a vibrant oasis after an incredible one-day renovation:
