'James' joins the race for newborn royal baby name

This morning, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child – a second son – at St Mary’s Hospital in London and speculation shrouding the newborn’s name is rife.

The royal couple – who are already parents to four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte – have thus far opted for traditional monikers.

Prince George’s middle names, Louis and Alexander, pay tribute to former Kings of England perhaps taking into account the fact that he is the future Monarch.

While, Princess Charlotte’s middle monikers, Elizabeth and Diana, reflect her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II and her late grandmother, Princess Diana.

But will the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge go down a similar route for their newborn prince?

A few months back, Casino.org launched a poll which asked 4,000 members of the public to give their predictions of what the royal moniker will be.

Findings indicated that those in the North East believe that the royal couple will name their newborn, James. While Philip, inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh, remains a favourite in East Anglia.

But what do the nation’s bookmakers think?

When the Duchess of Cambridge went into labour, Arthur was the leading boy’s name. And the traditional but popular moniker is a stellar contender, as it is one of Prince Charles’ middle names.

Meanwhile, Albert and Philip are sitting quietly closely behind at 11/1. In joint place at 13/1, are Frederick and James.

The royal couple have yet to showcase their latest addition to the world, as the nation patiently watches the now-famous brown doors of the Lindo Wing.

And the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will not reveal the child’s moniker until the Queen has been informed of their choice. Though it is likely the newborn will follow his siblings and adopt the Cambridge title.
