WATCH: Trump calls Apple CEO Tim Cook “Tim Apple”
There are still a lot of Ms Fishers, Mr Bakers and Mr Smiths – but the days of naming people after their place of work are generally considered well, well over.
But not if you’re the President of the United States of America.
Donald Trump been caught on camera flubbing the name of the CEO of one of the most influential international companies – Apple.
His name is Tim Cook, but Trump called him “Tim Apple”.

Give me context
Trump was speaking to Cook at an American Workforce Policy Advisory Board meeting when he made the gaff.
In the full clip below, Trump says the US is going to be “opening up the labour forces because we have to”.
“We have so many companies coming in. People like Tim — you’re expanding all over and doing things that I really wanted you to do right from the beginning.
“I used to say, ‘Tim, you gotta start doing it over here,’ and you really have you’ve really put a big investment in our country. We appreciate it very much, Tim Apple.
“But we’re opening it up. We want to bring people in. We want to do it legally and we want to do it based on merit.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has gotten someone’s name wrong: he’s called the CEO of Lockheed Martin, Marillyn Hewson, “Marillyn Lockheed,” while announcing the first set of tariffs on Chinese goods in March last year.

Twitter reacts
The flub elicited numerous reactions on Twitter – with most remarking on the weird world we’d live in if all executives changed their names to that of their businesses.
