Earlier this month during the battle rounds of The Voice season 21, Blake took the time to check in on newbie Ariana. While sitting next to her, the Grammy-nominated country star leaned over to the "Thank U, Next" singer and expressed concern that she wasn't warm enough while filming.
"You must be freezing, kiddo!" Blake said, adding that he felt "kind of chilly."
Though Ariana didn't seem bothered by the temperature in the studio, Blake then asked whether or not she had turned on her personal seat heater. When Ariana expressed concern that her beads might melt if she cranked up the heat, Blake chuckled and remarked, "Hopefully it don't get that hot."
When this short exchange was posted on TikTok, fans immediately began commenting on how much they loved this adorable moment. "Grandpa Grande calling his granddaughter 'kiddo' is the cutest thing ive EVER SEEN," one fan commented. "Blake is actually super sweet awe," another said. "The transition of Blake becoming the old man that says 'kiddo' I did not see happening."
It's definitely a different tone for Blake, who has made it crystal clear throughout season 21 that he is in it to win it again for Team Blake. In fact, before season 21 even kicked off, Blake told Hoda Kotb on the Today show that while he was excited to work with Ariana for the first time, he wasn't going to take it easy on her.
"We're still going to beat the crap out of her, you know, on the show. It’s our job — they pay us to win, Hoda. They don't pay me to lose," he said at the time.
Ariana, of course, has had her own fun throwing shade at Blake. Right before the season premiere of The Voice this fall, Ariana posted a scene from Mean Girls on Instagram in which Regina George (Rachel McAdams) adds her picture to the Burn Book and writes "fugly slut" next to it. Instead of Regina's picture, however, Ariana added Blake's photo to the Burn Book.
And the back-and-forth shade has continued ever since. But like we mentioned earlier, the rare moment shared on TikTok definitely proves that deep down they really do like each other ... even if it's way, way deep down.
