Video explains why the US shouldn't 'kill everyone in China'

Late last month, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel live held a "kids table" on politics. One of the US comedian's questions was, "America owes China a lot of money, US$1.3 trillion. How should we pay them back?"

One child immediately came back saying, "kill all the people in China".

The response sparked a flood of outrage, as tens of thousands supported petitions calling for the show to be investigated or for Kimmel to be fired. Protesters compared Kimmel to Hitler. ABC issued an official apology and said the segment would be removed from any future re-airings, and Kimmel himself apologised on his show last week.

Now, a Chinese marketing firm has issued a response of its own – in the form of a video that patiently explains how "killing all the people in China" would not actually solve the "debt crisis".

The video has gone viral in China, posting close to 50,000 views on Youku in one day.

Titled "Undying Chinese", it points to the country's resilient history, saying its people "can't be killed by anyone". It argues that the cost of killing every single Chinese person would only mire the US even deeper in debt.

The video also points out that products Americans use every day are all made in China.

"If you want to get your Christmas gift on Christmas morning, pray to God to bless Chinese. The undying Chinese."
