Ventriloquist baffles TikTok with video showing how he can ‘delay’ his voice when speaking: ‘How does he do it?’

A ventriloquist is blowing minds on TikTok after showing how he can “delay” his voice when speaking.

The wild clip comes courtesy of Jack Williams (@puppetjack_), a puppeteer with over 120,000 followers on TikTok. Naturally, most of Williams’ videos feature puppets, but one of his latest posts shows something a bit more bizarre.

Taking a long flight home for the holidays? Here are some hacks to make your journey bearable

Williams begins the clip by responding to a commenter, who asked if he ever uses his ventriloquist voice when talking to normal people. His answer shows how he can use his skills to delay his voice when speaking aloud.

In the video, Williams proceeds to mouth a series of phrases. However, he doesn’t actually say the words until after his mouth has stopped moving.

Essentially, Williams uses the same tricks he uses as a puppeteer — saying words without moving his mouth or changing his facial expressions. But in this case, he’s acting as his own puppet.

“How does he do it?” Williams says at one point, using his delayed voice.

This simple pastry dish will be your go-to all holiday season:

The clip drew more than 1 million views during its first day online, along with thousands of comments from astounded users.

“That’s so awesome,” one user wrote.

“You are way too talented,” another added.

In fact, some users were so surprised that they claimed Williams’ video was fake.

“I do not believe this,” one user wrote.

“He’s using voiceovers,” another wrote.

It seems unlikely that Williams is faking, given that he appears to be using his skills shown in other videos with his puppeteering. In fact, his delayed voice is reminiscent of another viral moment in 2020, when a teenager drew millions of views for showing off a similar ability.
