Yahoo Finance Tyler Herro breaks Magic Johnson's record, becomes youngest player to ever start in NBA Finals
Just by taking the floor at the start of Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro managed to make some history.
At 20 years and 256 days old, Herro was the youngest player to ever start in an NBA Finals, via Malika Andrews. The previous record-holder had been Magic Johnson during his legendary performance at the 1980 NBA Finals.

Herro’s historic start came at the expense of veteran guard Goran Dragic, who was out for Game 2 and possibly longer after sustaining a plantar tear during Game 1. All-Star center Bam Adebayo was also out with a shoulder issue and was replaced by Meyers Leonard.
Herro eventually finished with 17 points on 5-of-12 shooting with 7 rebounds and 3 assists in a 124-114 Heat loss.
Despite a rough Game 1 (14 points on 6-of-18 shooting), it has been a breakout postseason for Herro. The Kentucky product averaged 19.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in Miami’s series against the Boston Celtics and managed to make a little history along the way with a 37-point performance in Game 4.
However, it wasn’t enough to best Johnson on this one:
