Trade Alert: Vui Khiun Lee At Story-I Limited (ASX:SRY), Has Just Spent AU$109k Buying 7.3% More Shares

Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that Vui Khiun Lee, who is a company insider, recently bought AU$109k worth of stock, for AU$0.022 per share. However, it only increased their shares held by 7.3%, and it wasn't a huge purchase by absolute value, either.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Story-I

The Executive Director Hai Chan made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$182k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.012 each. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of AU$0.02. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Insider Ownership of Story-I

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that Story-I insiders own 60% of the company, worth about AU$5.4m. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Story-I Tell Us?

It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchase. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. When combined with notable insider ownership, these factors suggest Story-I insiders are well aligned, and quite possibly think the share price is too low. Nice! While we like knowing what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. To that end, you should learn about the 4 warning signs we've spotted with Story-I (including 3 which make us uncomfortable).

But note: Story-I may not be the best stock to buy. So take a peek at this free list of interesting companies with high ROE and low debt.

For the purposes of this article, insiders are those individuals who report their transactions to the relevant regulatory body. We currently account for open market transactions and private dispositions, but not derivative transactions.
