Top 15 cars of 2016?

Kia Picanto, BMW 1 Series and the Subaru Outback 2.5i have been named among Australia’s best cars for 2016.

The trio are among 15 vehicles listed in the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) best-of 2016 hot list for micro, medium under $50,000 and large cars under $70,000.

South Korean car maker Kia topped three categories including micro cars (Kia Picanto Si) , small under $35,000 (Kia Cerato S) and family wagon (Kia Carnival SLi) while European car maker BMW also got a nod for its 1 Series 125i Sport Line, 330i Luxury Line and M240i. Ford also topped two categories.

150 vehicles were put through their paces for criterion including value for money, design and function, and on road performance.

In all, over 40 vehicles got a nod across the various categories.
