The hamster outperforming investing veteran Warren Buffett

A hamster on a wheel and Bitcoin piled together.

Mr Goxx, the cryptocurrency trading hamster, has taken the world by storm with his incredible investing record.

The tiny investing genius is named after Mt Gox, the infamous Bitcoin exchange that was shut down in 2014 after $635 million in crypto holdings went missing.

When the hamster enters ‘the Goxx box’ and jumps on his hamster wheel, it initiates a transaction which works like a rolodex sifting through 30 different cryptocurrencies.

When the hamster hops off the wheel he has the choice of two tunnels to go through, one labelled ‘buy’ and the other ‘sell’.

Depending on the tunnel Mr Goxx chooses, his human partner will execute the command.

Mr Goxx is doing rather well: according to NPR, the hamster has outperformed Warren Buffett and the S&P 500.

His portfolio is up around 20 per cent since he started trading in June this year.

Can you trade like Mr Goxx?

Yes! If you’re so inclined to follow Mr Goxx on his journey, you can watch him make his trading decisions live on Twitch.

When Mr Goxx is live, you will see him hopping on the wheel and making the trades, or you can watch old clips of him.

His owner also regularly posts updates to his Twitter and Instagram account so you can follow him there as well.

This is not the first time an animal has taken the world by storm with their amazing guesses.

In 2010, Paul the Octopus was able to accurately predict the winner of the FIFA World Cup.

Paul was able to correctly predict the winners of each of the seven World Cup matches played by the German team.
