On sale: Is this Sydney's narrowest house?

An inner west Sydney house has come onto the market that measures just 2.5 metres wide.

The London St terrace, in the suburb of Enmore, is so skinny that the resident must walk through the only bedroom to get from the front lounge room to the kitchen.

Despite the narrow frontage, the block is long enough to have a separate studio bedroom at the end of the backyard. The main house also has basement storage for almost the entire length.

The location is attractive, with Enmore Road and Newtown restaurants and shops just a short walk down the street. Both Newtown and Stanmore railway stations are within walking distance.

The photos suggest the kitchen could be potentially updated but the house is in good overall condition.

The terrace house last sold in 2008 for $390,000. The unique dimensions of the property make it difficult to work out a current estimate, as there are no comparable sales to draw from.

Listing agent Greg Haimandos of Ray White Newtown told Domain that the house is the narrowest he's ever seen.

"It’s just gone online – we’ve had no opens yet, and quite a few calls for inquiry.

"Being entry-level, it will generate some interest because at that level, why wouldn’t you try to get a house?"

The property is scheduled for auction on October 31 offsite.

Houses in Sydney that are narrower than 3 metres width are rare.

Also in Enmore, 43 Edgeware Road is sometimes claimed as the narrowest in the entire city – although it's inconclusive as to whether this London St terrace 'beats' it.
