How Sydney drivers can avoid parking fines forever
Sydney drivers rejoice, because finding a parking spot and topping it up is about to get easier.
The NSW Government has released a free app that allows drivers to find, pay and top up their metered parking from their phone, meaning the days of racing back to their cars before time runs out is over.
The NSW Government’s Park’nPay app, now available for Apple and Android phones, helps drivers find a metered parking spot after the driver has parked.

The app also sends notifications to drivers reminding them when their time expires, and giving them the option to top up from their phones.
Parking can be paid via the app, and you’ll be sent a receipt when the transaction is done.
“If we could get people into parking spaces quicker, that means they’re not driving around as long, which means we’re reducing congestion,” NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury told 7News.
At the moment, the app is only available in The Rocks, Liverpool Council and Pyrmont, but will be made available in other locations across late 2019 and early 2020.
How to use the Park’nPay app:
Download the Park’nPay app,
Create an account with the car’s licence plate number,
Add your payment details.
The app accepts payments with Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and of course the parking meters will continue to accept coins.
Parking inspectors will see if a meter has been paid by looking up the license plate number using an app.
If you find you’re running late, don’t fret: Sydney drivers still have a 10 minute grace period.
