Son ‘refuses’ to be anything but Hot Pocket for Halloween, and Mom brilliantly delivers

Some kids will only accept a scary costume on Halloween, while others want to get a little more creative.

Halloween is the perfect time to let the kiddos be as weird as they want to be. TikTok mom Jessica W. Schaefer isn’t afraid to get crafty. She has been whipping together elaborate Halloween costumes for years.

When her son requested to be a very specific supermarket snack this year, she understood the assignment.

“When your kid refuses to be anything but a Hot Pocket for Halloween. #UnderstoodTheAssignment,” Schaefer said.

The mom modified a foam mattress topper to be worn as the toaster pastry and spray-painted it brown. She used a sewing machine to sew the “Hot Pocket” logo onto a cardboard box to create the sleeve.

The quick tutorial racked up over 4 million views. People loved Schaefer’s work.

“Always let kids pick their costumes even if it seems ridiculous to you,” a user wrote.

“My mom made me a Lays Potato Chip Bag costume. My favorite costume ever,” another said.

“Best mama award goes to you,” someone added.

She revealed what her son looked like in the Hot Pocket costume in a follow-up video.

Schaefer also included other costumes she made, such as Madonna, Willy Wonka, Chucky, the Mad Hatter and even an I Spy book.
