Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is living, arguably, every young person’s fantasy. Since being cast out of 15,000 people to star in Mindy Kaling’s hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever (without any prior professional experience), Ramakrishnan has taken the industry by storm and is ready for whatever’s next.
The popular teen dramedy will end after its fourth and final season, which recently wrapped filming. And now, the 20-year-old Toronto native is primed to embody any character, from a queen to a warrior to an action hero, as portrayed in this month’s In The Know digital cover.
Jora Frantzis shot the playful photos in Los Angeles. Sarah Toshiko West (assisted by Florence Hamler) styled Ramakrishnan in a range of looks featuring brands like Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Alexis Bittar. Vivian Maxwell did Ramakrishnan’s makeup, and Josh Liu styled her hair.
Ramakrishnan sat down with In The Know’s Gibson Johns to talk about everything from saying goodbye to Devi, her character from Never Have I Ever, to how Kaling inspires her and what she wants next in her career.
