Yahoo Finance ‘Shattered’: Aussie business’s ‘darkest day’
A beloved Australian baby business has faced its “darkest day”, leaving the business “shattered” and with no money.
Pip and Lenny, which sells clothing for children aged between zero and seven, had its Facebook account hacked on Monday, with the hacker taking thousands of dollars in profit.
The business, which has more than 150,000 followers, took to Instagram to reveal the hack had left it “shattered”.
“Our Facebook account has been hacked and we have been left with the reality of losing thousands and thousands of dollars,” the business wrote.
“For a small business like ours – this truly is devastating. We are working to get this resolved, and we won’t stop until we do.”
In another post on Tuesday, the hack was described as the “darkest day” in seven years of business.
“We have lost everything,” the business wrote.
“We won’t let these hackers take us down and destroy everything we have worked for.”
Hundreds of customers flooded the comments with support and praise for the brand, describing the attack as “hectic” and “so scary”.
Others spoke of their experience with Facebook pages being hacked.
One user wrote the same thing happened to them and they never got the money back.
Another said their business Instagram account was also hacked in recent days.
“We lost a FB page a few months ago with 30k followers and never got it back. I dunno what’s going on with FB but it’s pretty terrible! I’m so sorry this happened to you!” one user wrote.
Another said: “My business account was hacked too. on Instagram and have not been able to get back in! They hacked my email and everything from there.”
Pip and Lenny said the support from customers was a “silver lining” among the devastation from the hack.
“We truly appreciate you all more than ever,” the business told its customers.
