Australian Telstra Plus members have been urged to check they’re not missing out on free gifts after one savvy bargain hunter revealed her secret hack.

Posting on popular Facebook group Markdown Addicts Australia, the customer showed how Telstra Plus members can score bonus points through the Telstra app.

The Telstra Plus rewards program allows customers to accumulate points which they can spend on rewards like entertainment and technology.

Rewards points are earned when users pay for Telstra services, with customers earning 10 points for every $1 on bills.

To access the bonus points, customers need to head to the Telstra Plus ‘Open up fun’ section of the app.

Then, customers can redeem up to 1,000 points which can then be used to score free items.

Members of the group responded by revealing they had picked up between 100 and 1,000 points, which they then used to pick up items like Garmin watches and speakers.

Gift card hack

Australians who aren’t with Telstra have also been reminded of another way to save money: leftover gift cards.

Australian model Alex Davidson explained in a TikTok video earlier this year that Aussies struggling to spend gift cards for shopping centres should know they don’t need to only spend them at the specified shopping centre.

“I feel like this is a life hack so imma share,” she said in the caption.

As the cards can be used anywhere that accepts EFTPOS, those Westfield gift cards can actually be used anywhere.

“They’re actually just EFTPOS gift cards,” she said.

“Most shopping centres just label the cards themselves with their logo or shopping centre names, but it’s usually like an EFTPOS gift card.

“I just thought I’d let you all know that when people are giving you gift cards for shopping centres as a whole, it’s kind of annoying, I don’t really enjoy that.

“But they’re literally an EFTPOS gift card, it is not just for the shopping centres.”
