Packaging mogul, Anthony Pratt has been named Australia’s wealthiest person in new analysis, toppling Pilbara queen, Gina Rinehart from her perch.

With a wealth of $13.12 billion, Gina Rinehart has slightly less money than Anthony Pratt and family, with a wealth of $13.14 billion, The Australian has revealed today.

Pratt, 58, is the executive chairman of Visy Industries and Pratt Industries. Pratt Industries is the world’s largesd packaging company.

Rinehart and Pratt, two multi-billionaires, are followed by real estate giant Harry Triguboff ($12.31 billion) and software leaders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, with $9.01 billion each.

“Love them or hate them, so many people love to read about the rich. And we’ve had unprecedented cooperation with Australia’s wealthy elite for The List,” wealth expert and editor of The List, John Stensholt said.

“There are stories that delight and inspire, and tales of overcome setbacks, losing it all and then making it back again.”

The combined wealth of the 250 Australians who made the rich-list comes to a staggering $31.33 billion, or an average wealth of $1.27 billion for each member.

The list is also dominated by men and older Australians, with only 15 entrants younger than 40 and only 27 women.

Tobi Pearce (26) – fitness professional and partner to fellow rich-lister, fitness entrepreneur Kayla Itsines – is the youngest entrant, while investor Len Ainsworth and TarraWarra owner Marc Besen are both the oldest at 95.

These are the top 10 richest Australians

1. Anthony Pratt & Family ($13.14 billion)
2. Gina Rinehart ($13.12 billion)
3. Harry Triguboff ($12.31 billion)
4. Mike Cannon-Brookes ($9.01 billion)
5. Scott Farquhar ($9.01 billion)
6. Frank Lowy ($8.92 billion)
7. Hui Wing Mau ($8.63 billion)
8. Andrew Forrest ($7.34 billion)
9. Ivan Glasenberg ($6.76 billion)
10. John Gandel ($6.22 billion)

The ranking comes after Forbes named Gina Rinehart as Australia’s wealthiest person, with Anthony Pratt in third-place after Harry Triguboff, in January this year.

However, the Australian Financial Review classes Pratt as Australia’s wealthiest man.
