Rich list: The wealthiest Aussies have been revealed

There are 139 billionaires in Australia, including well-known rich listers like Gina Rinehart and Andrew Forrest.

The richest Aussies have been revealed and they hold a staggering $531.96 billion between them.

Australia’s Richest 250 list has been unveiled by The Australian, featuring the country's biggest mining magnates, tech giants, property tycoons and more.

Gina Rinehart has maintained the top spot as Australia’s richest person, with a net worth of $37.10 billion, up from $32.64 billion last year. Rinehart’s Hancock Prospecting delivered a mammoth profit for 2022, with a $5.8 billion net result.

In second place is iron ore magnate Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest of Fortescue Metals, with a net worth of $35.21 billion, up from $31.77 billion last year.

Rounding out the top three was businessman Anthony Pratt and his family, with a net worth of $27.87 billion. Pratt is the executive chairman of Visy Industries and Pratt Industries, the world’s largest privately owned packaging and paper company.

A number of tech giants also made the rich list, including Atlassian co-founders and chief executives Mike Cannon-Brookes ($16.06 billion) and Scott Farquhar ($15.56 billion), as well as Canva co-founders Cliff Obrecht ($10.13 billion) and Melanie Perkins ($10.13 billion).

There are 139 billionaires in Australia this year. As well as the big names, there are also some new, lesser-known rich-listers including pub baron Sam Arnaout, who placed 53rd on the list with a net worth of $2.3 billion, and maker of the popular Rode microphones, Peter Freedman, who placed 121nd on the list at $1.10 billion.
