Sam Armytage's TV comeback could be with rival network

Former Sunrise host Sam Armytage recently revealed she wasn't totally "done" with TV after leaving the Channel Seven show earlier this year, and now rumours are swirling the host wants to make the jump to rival network Channel Ten.

The 44-year-old is reportedly considering making the move once her contract with Seven expires at the end of the year.

New Idea reports Ten is hoping they can "entice" Sam to host a new morning show, which would either replace Studio 10, or be a revamped version of it.

"There’s word they’re hoping Sam might be part of a new morning show to go up against Sunrise and Today," a source said, adding the issue, however, would be finding her a suitable co-anchor.

However, insiders suggest Sam would prefer to join The Project.

"That would be her prize job, but there’s a problem with that – she would have to push Carrie Bickmore or Lisa Wilkinson out the door purely due to budgets," they added.

The source added Sam has reportedly "told friends she's already itching to get back on-screen", adding, "She’s very ambitious and just wants her big return to be done correctly!"

Sam is currently in the podcasting game, but recently told the Daily Telegraph she'd be keen to return to TV at some point.

"I don’t think I am done with TV," she said.

"I am for now but I may someday get back in but it has to be the right role and it has to be at the right time."

The host added whatever she does will have to be very different to her previous role, as it didn't bring her "much happiness".

"I am quite happy not to go at the pace or at the level I was at before because I don’t think that brought me much happiness," she said.

Sam worked on Sunrise for eight years alongside David Koch, deciding to leave the show in March to spend more time with her new husband Richard Lavender.
