Report: 2 more Titans players test positive as coronavirus outbreak continues to spread

·2-min read

Two more players on the Tennessee Titans have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Titans have already had their Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers postponed as Tennessee grapples with multiple positive coronavirus tests. Eight members of the Titans’ organization — three players and five personnel members — registered positive tests Tuesday. That figure has increased since then. One new player tested positive Wednesday, and two more registered positive tests Thursday.

Friday’s report brings the Titans’ total to 13 positive coronavirus tests, according to Schefter.

Titans positive tests could put Week 5 in jeopardy

Given the rate at which the Titans are producing new positive tests, there’s some fear the team’s Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills could be in jeopardy.

Schefter notes that additional positives over the weekend could put the game against the Bills in danger. It’s unclear how the NFL would handle the remainder of the Titans’ schedule if the team has to miss multiple games as a result of a coronavirus outbreak.

Vikings have not experienced any positive tests

While the Titans continue to register positive tests, the Minnesota Vikings have not experienced an outbreak yet. The two teams played in Week 3, and the NFL made the Vikings shut down their practice facility in an effort to prevent another team from experiencing an outbreak.

Through Thursday, however, no player on the Vikings had tested positive for the coronavirus.

While that doesn’t guarantee the team’s Week 4 game against the Houston Texans will take place, there’s optimism the game will happen as long as the Vikings continue to test negative.
