Report: Titans turn in 2nd straight day with no new positive coronavirus tests, could play Week 5

The Tennessee Titans may play their Week 5 game after all. The team reportedly turned in its second straight day with no new positive coronavirus tests, opening the door for the Titans to get back into their practice facility soon and prepare for the Buffalo Bills.

Under NFL rules, the team’s practice facility can reopen Wednesday. That would give the Titans the ability to hold practices before taking on the Bills on Sunday.

Neither the team nor the NFL has confirmed the news.

Titans dealing with coronavirus outbreak

At least 20 members of the Titans have tested positive for coronavirus since Tuesday. The team endured six straight days with new positive tests before turning in negative tests Monday. As a result of the outbreak, the team’s Week 4 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was postponed. The two teams will instead play in Week 7.

In an effort to cut down on more outbreaks around the league, the NFL announced harsher penalties for teams that violate coronavirus protocol. The NFL and NFLPA also launched an investigation into the Titans to see whether violations led to the team’s outbreak.

It’s unclear whether the Titans will face punishment if the league and union determine the team was at fault for its coronavirus outbreak.
