NBA postpones 3 more games involving Suns, Wizards due COVID-19 contact tracing

The NBA announced that Wednesday’s game between the Atlanta Hawks and the Phoenix Suns has been postponed. Later Wednesday, the league announced that Friday’s Suns vs. Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards vs. Detroit Pistons games will also be postponed.

The games are being postponed because the Suns and Wizards don’t have the minimum number of players available (eight) due to contact tracing. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Suns were exposed on Monday after playing the Washington Wizards.

Wednesday is the fourth straight day the NBA has had to postpone at least one game. Two other games that were scheduled to take place on Wednesday were already postponed earlier in the week.

Amid league-wide struggles with COVID-19 related issues, the NBA announced tightened COVID-19 protocols on Tuesday. Players will be required to wear face masks on the bench, minimize non-game contact with other players, and stay at their homes or hotels when they’re not playing.
