$2,200 a week: The Block house up for rent

If you’ve ever looked at a freshly renovated home from The Block and wished it could be yours, I’ve got good news for you: it can be.

But it comes at a price. The Melbourne home renovated by Andy and Deb from the 2019 season of the reality TV show is available for rent at $2,200 a week.

It’s a significant mark-up compared to other homes on Grey Street; Domain’s website reveals that other properties on the same street are renting for under $400 per week, although these apartments have only two bedrooms or less.

Still, other four-bedroom houses in St Kilda range between $750 to $1,450 a week.

Inside the 2019 The Block house

The four-bedroom house is based in Melbourne’s glitzy suburb of St Kilda and blends light-filled contemporary living spaces with the outdoors.

You can rent the home on 38c Grey Street, St Kilda either fully furnished, partially furnished, or not furnished at all – but it’s already so tastefully decorated it’s hard to see why you wouldn’t want all the trimmings.

“This magnificent home has been transformed into a luxurious triple storey abode tailored for contemporary living on a grand scale,” the Domain listing states.

“Echoing the splendour of a 19th century streetscape, its facade reveals a sumptuous formal lounge boasting a Heat and Glo gas fireplace framed by exposed brickwork and integrated shelving.”

Step into the house through the palatial courtyard framed by ferns and lights.

The open-plan living and dining area is complemented by floor-to-ceiling glass windows and opens up to a private courtyard with a bench and wall planters.

No effort has been spared in the bedrooms, either, which feature four-poster beds. Those who live in the master bedroom will also enjoy a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite.

The main bathroom also comes with a free-standing bathtub and a sky shower.

The upstairs level also features a long work bench that comfortably fits two home office spaces.

If that level of luxury isn’t enough, there is an internal lift that takes you through each of the levels.

The roof of the house has also been converted into a rooftop terrace equipped with an outdoor grill, dining tables and benches and city views that are perfect for summer entertainment.

The remote garage also fits two cars, and the whole home comes equipped with reverse cycle air conditioning, solar panels, Tesla power storage and charging facilities.

The house is only minutes away from cafes, restaurants, public transport and boutique stores, with St Kilda Park Primary School only 300 metres away.

To live here, though, you’ll have to have fairly deep pockets, with the bond set at a whopping $14,339.
