R. Kelly's two girlfriends speak out as he's arrested again
R. Kelly has been arrested again, this time over unpaid child support payments.
The 52-year-old R&B singer was taken into custody after Wednesday’s hearing for failing to pay his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, more than $161,000 [$230,000 AUD] in back child support by the court mandated deadline.
The Kellys finalised their divorce in 2009 after 13 years of marriage. They share three children: 20-year-old Joann, otherwise known as Buku Abi; Jay, 18; and Robert Jr., who is 16.
Kelly – who was also arrested last month on 10 charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault on four victims, three of them underage – will have to pay the total amount to be released from jail. He came to court purportedly prepared to set up a payment plan, according to Chicago Sun-Times reporter Sam Charles.
Kelly’s publicist says Kelly was ready to pay 50-60K today and set up a payment plan. He expected to leave court free.

Explosive interview
Kelly was already in headlines after his intense interview with Gayle King aired on CBS This Morning, during which he denied ever having sex with minors or holding women against their will.
Instead, he claimed to be the victim, saying the numerous allegations against him have prevented him from having a relationship with his children. The singer has been accused of pedophilia and sexual misconduct allegations for over two decades and has repeatedly maintained his innocence.
Jimmy Kimmel spoke about the “insane” interview during his late night show on Wednesday.
“I believe this is the first time a defendant has ever pleaded insanity during an interview,” Kimmel said on the show.
“He claims that he never held anyone against their will, because only a dummy would do something like that.”
His girlfriends speak out
In the preview for the next part of the interview series, one of Kelly’s live-in girlfriends is seen breaking down in tears, as she defended him against child sex abuse claims.
Azriel Clary, who was seated alongside another of Kelly’s girlfriends, Joycelyn Savage, also accused her parents of lying about her situation, in order to make money.
“Tell me Azriel, why you’re crying. Tell me,” Gayle asks as the woman is seen bent over in her chair crying, with Joycelyn rubbing her back for comfort.
“I’m crying because you guys don’t know the truth, you guys are believing some f***ing facade that our parents are saying,” Azriel said.
“This is all f***ing lies for money and if you can’t see that then you’re ignorant and you’re stupid.”
Joycelyn, 23, agreed with Azriel, claiming that “everything that she’s saying is true.”
“Our parents are basically out here just to get money. Both our parents are basically out here trying to get money and scam because they didn’t agree on what happened… and they’re just very upset,” she said.
Kelly’s latest arrest comes nearly two weeks after he was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault involving four alleged victims. Prosecutors say three of the four women were underage during the incidents stemming from 1998 to 2010. If convicted, Kelly faces a maximum of three to seven years in prison on each charge. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The Grammy-winning musician had trouble posting the $1 million bail (or at least the $100,000 that was required for his release) and remained in jail for three nights. Kelly’s attorney said the singer’s finances were a mess, citing “mismanagement,” “hangers-on” and “bad deals” as some of the reasons Kelly “really doesn’t have any money at this point.” Kelly’s “friend,” Valencia Love, wound up posting his bail.
