Princess Eugenie has paid tribute to her late grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, in a touching tribute on social media.

Prince Philip died on Friday 9 April at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle.

Now, on Instagram, Princess Eugenie has honoured the life of her late grandfather in a touching caption posted alongside two photographs of herself with the late Duke.

In the first photo, Eugenie is pictured standing next to him as an adult at an event.

In the second, she is pictured as a child with Prince Philip’s hand resting on her head.

“Dearest Grandpa,⁣ We all miss you,” the 31-year-old’s caption began.

“You would be so touched by all the tributes that have been shared with me the past few days. ⁣

“People remember sitting next to you at a dinner, or shaking your hand once, who remember you saying hello in passing, or remember how much their DofE award meant to them.”⁣

⁣Eugenie went on to explain how she recalled her grandfather teaching her many skills when she was a child.

“I remember learning how to cook, how to paint, what to read. I remember laughing at your jokes and asking about your spectacular life and service in the navy,” she wrote.

“I remember incinerating the sausages and you swooping in to save the day.⁣”

She added how she will always remember his distinctive laugh and his favourite beer.⁣

“I will remember you in your children, your grandchildren and great grandchildren,” she continued before going on to reference her grandmother, the Queen, who had been married to Prince Philip for 73 years.

“Thank you for your dedication and love for us all and especially Granny, who we will look after for you,” she wrote. “With all my love, Eugenie”.

The Princess’s tribute comes after several of Prince Philip’s other grandchildren have released statements to honour his life.

Earlier this week, both the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge released individual statements.

Prince William’s statement was formal in tone and referred to Prince Philip’s life of service.

“My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation,” he said.

“Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job.”

Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex also acknowledged his grandfather’s sense of humour, stating: “To me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ‘til the end.”
