Obama to make statement after fiscal cliff talks

US President Barack Obama will make a televised statement on fiscal cliff talks with top Republican and Democratic leaders at 2245 GMT, the White House said Friday.

Obama will appear on camera after talks lasting just over an hour with top Republican and Democratic leaders in Congress designed to avert huge tax hikes and spending cuts set to shock the US economy on January 1.
