Yahoo Finance Report: Packers, RB Aaron Jones agree to 4-year, $48 million contract
With NFL free agency getting closer by the second, you can cross Aaron Jones off your list of available running backs.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jones and the Green Bay Packers have agreed to a four-year contract worth $48 million, plus a $13 million signing bonus.

Jones broke the news of the signing himself, tweeting "Let's run it back."

Jones, 26, was expected to hit free agency after the Packers declined to use their franchise tag on him. The presence of running back A.J. Dillon, who the Packers took in the second round of the 2020 draft, almost seemed to guarantee that the Packers would let him go. Instead, they decided to pay Jones big money.
If that situation sounds vaguely familiar, that's because the Packers did something similar with their 2020 first round pick. They took quarterback Jordan Love in the first round despite having Aaron Rodgers under contract through the 2023 season.
In retrospect, it seems like both of those picks could have been put to better use since both Rodgers and Jones are staying with the Packers. But maybe the Packers have a master plan that the rest of us just can't see yet. They certainly couldn't be making this up as they go along with no regard to their long term future, right?
